Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the degree of freedom in selecting the configuration such as the aspect ratio of an outer box of the above-titled apparatus, by forming a primary and a secondary air outlet ports at the side of a heat exchanger facing a fan unit in arranging the heat exchanger and fan unit side by side in the outer box. CONSTITUTION:In arranging a fan unit 18 and a counterflow heat exchanger 1 side by side in an outer box 8, openings 14, 15 are formed in a partition 10 between the heat exchanger 1 and fan unit 18, in the manner that they are registered respectively with a room-air outlet port 4 and an open-air outlet port 5. By employing such an arrangement, the side faces of the heat exchanger 1 are rendered substantially parallel with the corresponding faces of the outer box 8 except for one facing the fan unit 8, so that no dead space is formed in the box 8. Further, in increasing the heat transfer area of the heat exchanger, dimensions of the sizes of the heat exexchanger 1 can be selected freely and the degree of freedom in selecting the configuration such as the aspect ratio of the outer box 8 can be increased.
