Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:2,4,6-Tripyridinium-1,3,5-triazine trihalide of formulaI(X is halogen).
EXAMPLE: 2,4,6-Tripyridinium-1,3,5-triazine trichloride of formula II.
USE: Dehydrative condensation agent for esterfication: the agent is readily obtained from readily available raw materials by mild reactions and enables the syntheses of ester difficult to be synthesized such as a tertiary alkyl ester, phenol ester or cojugated carboxylic ester.
PREPARATION: A cyanuric halide such as chyanuric chloride of formula III is made to react with pyridine in an inert solvent such as methylene chloride to give the compound of formulaIas a precipitate. The product decomposes with moisture, when stood in the air and the reaction is effected in an inert gas such as nitrogen or argon and is preferably stored in an inert solvent in an inert gas atmosphere.
