PURPOSE:To test each service highway with a simple constitution, by folding and transmitting service PCM data, which is received from a receiving highway, to a transmission highway and by comparing folded data and transmitted data with each other. CONSTITUTION:A PCM test trunk TS which holds service PCM data is provided in one of service higways HW0-HWn, and folding test trunks TE0-TEn which transmit service PCM data received from a receiving highway to a transmission highway are prvided in all of service highways HW0-HWn. Service PCM data for service test is generated by a processor and is set to the trunk TS and is transmitted to successively selected channels by the control of the processor. Service PCM data transmitted through trunks TE0-TEm is received by the trunk TS and is compared with transmitted service PCM data to discriminate whether respectively channels and respective parts interposed on channels are normal or not.
