Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an emulsified fuel capable of suppressing the corrosion of boiler, by adding a specifically small amount of a water-soluble alkaline earth metal salt to a fuel.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel oil (e.g., heavy oil B or C) is suspended in water containing 2wt% water-soluble alkaline earth metal salt (e.g., calcium acetate or magnesium acetate) with the aid of an emulsifier (e.g., α- and/or β-naphthol-ethylene oxide addition product or alkylphenol ether sulfate ammonium salt) in order to obtain an emulsified fuel. The perferred proportion of the alkaline earth metal salt in an emulsified fuel containing usually 5W40wt% moisture is 0.8W0.005wt%. The emulsified fuel has an excellent corrosion-preventing effect.
