Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the wing surface in slackless state and prevent fatigue breakage due to pattering of the wing by permitting the sail wing which consists of front and rear edge beams, auxiliary edge beam, flexible wing surface, and springs to be extended and contracted in the direction of the chord of blade.
CONSTITUTION: The sail wing 7 which consists of a front edge beam 15, rear edge beam 17, auxiliary front edge beam 16, flexible wing surface 4, and a plurality of tension springs 18 which unite the beams 15 and 16 through connecting bolts 19 in order to apply a tension force to a flexible wing surface member 20 is constituted so as to be extensible and contractible in the direction of the chord of blade. When the blade is fabricated in the state in which the spring 18 is pulled up, a tensile force is applied to the beam 16 by the recovery force of the spring 18. This force is further transmitted to the flexible wing surface member 20, and the wing surface material 20 is kept in slackless state. Therefore, the wing shape is formed into streamline shape, and the pattering of the wing surface member 20 due to the variation of the aeropower can be prevented, so breakage of each member can be avoid, and a windmill having high efficiency can be obtained.
