Abstract
PURPOSE: To continuously purify a large amount of stock water into a low COD state under a stable condition when dil. organic waste water is electroytically treated in the presence of CaF2, by determining the amount of an iron salt to be added as a flocculant in accordance with the COD value or viscosity of the stock water.
CONSTITUTION: Pissolved organic substance-contng. stock water having COD of 10ppm or less, e.g. sewage-purified water, is introduced into an electrolytic cell, where the water is electrolytically treated with addition of an iron salt as a flocculant in the presence of CaF2 between two electrodes. In this case, the COD value or viscosity of the stock water is measured, and the amount of the iron salt controlled in response to the amount of the iron salt predetermined in relation to the COD value or viscosity. The electrolytical treatment is done by setting an electric current at about 30W200A/m2 and a treating period at about 30min to 1hr or so. By this treatment, purified water faving COD value lowered at about 0.5ppm or less can be obtained.
