PURPOSE:To obtain a full effect of corrosion resistance in machining liquid while maintaining its prescribed insulation resistance and machining speed, by adding 0.01-0.1wt% paraoxy benzoic acid ethyl to nonflammable machining liquid containing saccharide solution. CONSTITUTION:This electric discharge machining liquid is obtained in such a manner that antiseptic is added to nonflammable machining liquid containing saccharide solution, and for the antiseptic it is preferable to use 0.01-0.1wt% paraoxy benzoic acid ethyl added with respect to the nonflammable machining liquid. Describing the relation between concentration of this paraoxy benzoic acid ethyl and its effect of corrosion resistance, in consequence of investigation for the relation between solution of various concentration and a time of period until it is corroded and resistivity on the 30th day from the beginning of electric discharge machining work, it has been confirmed that the machining liquid containing the concentration of 0.01-0.1wt% benzoic acid ethyl can obtain a full effect of corrosion resistance while maintaining prescribed insulation resistivity (1X10<4>OMEGA.cm) for a long period.
