Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the die clamping force to be applied on cam parts, to reduce the floating of male dies, and to reduce the formation of sectional die flashes by using segmental dies for only the cam parts, and ring dies for shaft end parts.
CONSTITUTION: A heated blank material is contained in the dies 2a, 2b of segmental dies 1a, and ring dies 1b. While one end of the blank material is inserted into the die 2b of the die 1b by moving a hydraulic cylinder 16, the cylinder is moved until the right end of the ring die 1b contacts with the left end of the die 1a. A hydraulic cylinder 6 is moved to strongly press the male die 1a1 of the die 1a to a female die 1a2. At this time, a ring die back preventing key 18 is inserted into a groove 19 and therefore the ring die 1b is pressed to the die 1a side. The cylinder 16 is moved to push a punch 17 to the die 1a side and the blank material is pressed from both ends, whereby, the cam shaft of a desired shape is formed.
