Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable optical observation by growing fine particles by condensing saturated vapor while using aerosol particles as nucleuses, and by measuring the number of the grown fine particles.
CONSTITUTION: Aerosol from an aerosol intake 10 is conducted to a saturated vapor chamber 13 through a valve 27 and a flow meter 25, and also conducted to a high-temperature saturated steam chamber 13. The inside of the high-temperature saturated steam chamber 13 is held at a higher temperature than that of the saturated steam chamber 11 by a heating means 14, and both the saturated steam chambers 13 and 11 are filled with the saturated vapor of a solvent 31. As the solvent 31, water, ethanol, or the like is used. The saturated vapor arosol is mixed over heat insulation to condense and grow the vapor while using aerosol particles a nucleuses approximately to enough size to diffuse light, to that they are observed optically through a microscope 19.
