Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily perform temp. controlling to reduce cost compared with an aluminum mandrel and more over to form protective coating films, thereby to prevent gathering and growth of rust by constituting a mandrel of fixing roller with carbon steel. CONSTITUTION:A mandrel of fixing roller of the titled copier is constituted with carbon steel, and protective coating are formed on the surface of the mandrel and then a silicone rubber layer is laminated thereon. The carbon steel is profitable about three times at heat capacity and about four to five times at the cost compared to Al alloys. But new problems are occurred with regard to gathering rust, affinity between silicone rubber layer and primer layer, and heat resistance. These problems are solved by forming protective films on the surface of the mandrel made of carbon steel. After following rust prevention treatings, it is preferable to form protective coating films. Various electroplatings, chemical conversion films, coating fluoroplastics etc., Fe3O4 oxidized films and the like are available.
