Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the oxidation resistance of a ferrite steel contg. a prescribed amount of Cr at high temp. by adjusting each of the total amount of S and O in the steel and the amount of O to below a specified value so as to prevent the formation of MS, etc. which are unstable at high temp.
CONSTITUTION: The titled ferrite steel contains 10W30% Cr, <0.008% (S+O) and <0.005% O. Such very small amounts of S and O existing in the steel are converted into a Ca-Al-Mg-O-S compound which is stable even at high temp. by bonding to Ca and Mg entering the steel inevitably. Accordingly, the formation of compounds such as MS liberating S at high temp. is prevented. The liberated S is concd. on the steel surface and at the grain boundaries to deteriorate the oxidation resistance of the steel at high temp.
