Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a titled refining vessel of considerably improved corrosion resistance of lining bricks by using the MgO-C bricks made by adding an org. binder to a mixture of prescribed ratios of MgO and C and molding the mixture then calcining the molding in a specific temp. range for the circumference of a gas blowing tuyere. CONSTITUTION:An MgO raw material such as sintered MgO of >=95% content of MgO and a C raw material such as flake graphite of >=80% content of C are mixed at ratios of 90-70% MgO and 10-30% C. Next, an org. binder such as phenolic resin is added and mixed to this mixture, and the mixture is kneaded and molded, after which the molding is calcined in a 900-1,450 deg.C temp. range in an atmosphere of not oxidizing C, until the binder is carbonized. Thence, the resultant MgO-C bricks are used around the gas blowing tuyere of a refining vessel. As a result, unlike with conventional uncalcined MgO-C bricks, the occurrence of creep deformation is obviated, and the joint erosion between lining bricks is less; hence, the effect of considerably improving the corrosion resistance of the lining bricks, considerably extending the continuous operation period of the refining vessel, etc. is obtained.
