Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having excellent heat resistance, impact strength, and thermal stability during the processing, by compounding a specific α-aromatic vinyl cyanate copolymer, an aromatic vinyl- vinyl cyanate graft rubber copolymer, and a polycarbonate.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by blending (A) 40W 90pts.wt. of a copolymer composed of 73W83wt% of an α-alkylaromatic vinyl compound such as α-methylstyrene, 17W27wt% of a vinyl cyanate such as acrylonitrile, and 0W10wt% of a vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith (e.g. methyl methacrylate), and containing ≤2mol% of a vinyl cyanate chain, (B) 0W30pts.wt. of a graft rubber copolymer obtained by the graft polymerization of pref. 50W100pts.wt. of a mixture composed of an aromatic vinyl compound such as styrene and a vinyl cyanate (and a vinyl monomer copolymerizable thereiwith) to 100pts.wt. of a butadiene polymer or copolymer rubber or acrylic ester polymer or copolymer rubber, and (C) 60W10pts.wt. of a polycarbonate. Additives such as stabilizers may be added to the composition if necessary.
