Abstract

PURPOSE: A methylchloroform composition that contains 1,1,3-tris(2-methyl-4- ditridecyl-phosphite-5-tert.-butylphenyl)butane, thus showing high stability at elevated temperature especially in the presence of metal.
CONSTITUTION: 1, 1, 3-Tris( 2-methyl-4-ditridecylphosphite-5-tert.-butylphenyl ) butane (MPBB) is added to a methylchloroform composition used as a degreasing agent for metallic products of various kinds by 0.0001W0.1wt% based on the total composition to stabilize methylchloroform and inhibit its decomposition to prevent the corrosion of metal caused by the formation of acidic substance. Further, the combination of MPBB with 1,4-dioxane, a known stabilizer, develops syergism to stabilize the composition even under extremely drastic conditions.
