Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve quality and reduce the abrasion of cylinders and pistons by filling molten metal into a die cavity then holding an injection piston still and acting the pressure of an accumulator upon an injection cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: The working fluid forcibly fed by a pump 12 flows into the chamber 14a of an injection cylinder 14 and operates a plunger 11 downward to forcibly feed molten metal into a die cavity because the coil a of a directional control valve 13 is held energized. When the molten metal is completely filled in the cavity at this time, the plunger 11 is decelerated. The deceleration value of the plunger 11 is converted to an electric signal by a converter 16, and the coil (a) of the valve 13 is de-energized by this signal; at the same time, a directional control valve 18 is operated. Hence, the working fluid from the pump 12 is stopped and the piston 15 is stopped. When the solidification shrinkage of the molten metal in the cavity initiates after stopping, the gaseous pressure of an accumulator balancing with the final working fluid pressure acts so that the plunger 11 begins to move, thereby preventing the drop of the molten metal pressure in the cylinder 10 to the maximum extent.
