Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve cold starting quality of a diesel engine in such a way as constituting a starting auxiliary device with an electric heater and a spraying nozzle capable of spraying fuel to be controlled in response to the number of revolution of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: The fuel introduced into a fuel injection pump 1 through a feed pump 2 and a filter 3 is injected through a nozzle 4, while excessive fuel is returned through a return pipe 5 to a tank unshown in the figure. Further, a part of the excessive fuel is introduced into a sprayer 9 through a branch pipe 6 equipped with electromagnetic valve 7. Compressed air is introduced into the sprayer 9 from a compressed air conduit 13 and further a spraying nozzle 10 on its tip opens in the air intake pipe 12. In the air intake pipe 12, a glow part 14 of an electric heater 11 is arranged, while facing the nozzle 10. Besides, electric conduction to the electric heater 11 and release of the electromagnetic valve 7 can be achieved simultaneously by a switch 8.
