Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a tracking error signal by utilizing a laser output effectively without spoiling main luminous flux by arranging a concave mirror behind a semiconductor laser which radiates light in two directions and by utilizing back light. CONSTITUTION:A concave mirror 9 with two concave surfaces is arranged behind a semiconductor laser 1 to condense laser beam on three points 13, 14 and 14. The light is condensed on a disk 5 by way of a collimator lens 2, a half-prism 3 and an objective lens 4. Its reflected light travels backward to make incident to a photodetector 7 via the half-prism 3 and a lens 6 to form images of a spot 10 by a main luminous flux and a spot 11 by a subluminous flux. Consequently, the laser output is utilized effectively without spoiling the main luminous flux to detect a tracking error signal.
