Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform accurate and high-speed track detection by moving an optical head in the radius direction of an optical disk at a prescribed speed and by obtaining a track detection signal by extracting a frequency component when the optical head crosses a track. CONSTITUTION:The reflected light of a light beam from an optical head 11 to an optical disk 1 is detected by a photoelectric converter 21, whose output is passed through a preamplifier 22 and an LPF23 to extract a frequency component when the optical head 11 crosses a track 2. The signal is inputted to a binary-coding circuit 24 to detect the envelope of the signal waveform, and its detection signal is compared with a reference level for binary coding. The signal is inputted to a track discriminating circuit 25 and outputted as a track detection signal through retrigger monostable multivibrator. This detection signal is counted and the result is collated with the number of the desired track to achieve accurate high-speed track detection.
