Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording body which has superior lubricity and runs stably, by adding specific polyethylene glycol ester to a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:In 100pts.wt. ferromagnetic powder, about 0.1-5pts.wt. polyethylene glycol ester expressed by formula I or II (where n is 1-500 and R and R' are 1-20C saturated or unsaturated aliphatic group) is contained. Further, a proper binder, or the like is added and dispersed by being kneaded by using an organic solvent to adjust a magnetic coating solution. This coating solution is applied over a nonmagnetic base and dried to form a magnetic layer. Magnetic powder in the magnetic layer is oriented at need and the surface is further smoothed. Thus, the running property and durability of the magnetic recording body are improved.
