CONSTITUTION:The signal from a signal reader which is not shown in th figure is inputted to an input terminal IP and is supplied to an exclusive OR circuit EOR also. Preceding data B0-B7 are inputted to the other input of the circuit EOR from the first register REG 1 through the first multiplexer MPX1, and exclusive OR between these data and current data Y0-Y7 is executed. Sequential processing courses of the output are held in the second register REG2, and the output of the circuit EOR and the output of the register REG2 are switched by the second multiplexer MPX2 and are inputted to a high order bit coder PEC. This coder PEC performs the position measurement of the high order of the output of the register REG2, and a pattern change point for the output of an optical character read is detected by the output of the coder PEC.
