Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform measurement with a high accuracy, by a method wherein an echo sounder is constituted by using one transmitter, two receivers placed with an appropriate interval kept in the vertical direction, a circuit that drives the transmitter and a circuit that processes the signals received by the receivers. CONSTITUTION:The block signal from an oscillator circuit 8 is frequency-divided in a time controlling circuit 9, and a transmission pulse that has a sufficiently longer period than that of the measured range of the depth of water is formed. With said synchronous pulse, a transmitting circuit 10 is actuated to obtain a voltage of an input waveform, and by applying the same to a transmitter 11, an acoustic wave is emitted from said transmitter 11 toward the bottom 6 of water. The emitted acoustic wave is reflected from the bottom 6 of water and received by a receiver 12 through an acoustic wave propagation path 25. In the same way, the acoustic wave passing through an acoustic wave propagation path 26 is received by a receiver 13. The outputs from the receivers 12, 13 are processed by amplified waveform shaping circuits 14, 15, flip-flop circuits 16, 17, two-input AND circuits 18, 19, counting circuits 20, 21, a computer 23 and so on to calculate the depth of water.
