Abstract
PURPOSE:To accurately quantify an acid and total iron ion, by titrating by an alkali standard solution in the atmosphere of inert gas after reducing ferric ion to ferrous ion by adding a reducing agent to a sample containing the acid and ferric ion. CONSTITUTION:For the purpose of controlling an acid and total iron ion in pickling solution of steel plate of the steel plate manufacturing factory to a suitable concentration, reducing agents such as thiosulfate, thioacetate, sulfite are preliminarly added to a sample, and ferric ion in the sample is reduced to ferrous ion at the time of making a quantitative analysis containing the acid, ferric ion, ferrous ion. Next, potentiometric titration is performed by using an alkali standard solution in the atmosphere of inert gas such as gaseous nitrogen and the acid is determined from the amount of the alkali standard solution required for reaching the first sudden change region of pH, and total iron ion is determined from additional added amount of the alkali standard solution required for reaching the next sudden change region of pH.
