Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the total cost including installation cost and maintenance cost, by forming a transmission line with a burried metallic conductor pipe and ground, and transmitting data carrier signal waves on the transmission line. CONSTITUTION:A data carrier signal wave is applied between a burried metallic pipe 1 and a grounded electrode E at one of two points P, P'. This carrier signal wave propagates, by taking the pipe 1 between the P, P' and ground G as a pair of transmission lines, that is, with attenuation in logarithmic proportion to a distance through the scattering in ground. The carrier signal wave attenuated through propagation can be received between the pipe 1 and the grounded electrode E' at the point P' of the P, P'.
