Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an NiO-CeO2-Al2O3 catalyst for the water vapor reforming of hydrocarbons at low temperatures by supporting an Ni compound and a Ce compound on gamma-alumina or boehmite support by a coprecipitation method.
CONSTITUTION: An Ni compound and a Ce compound are deposited on a support by a coprecipitation method in which gamma-alumina or boehmite support is added to an aqueous solution containing an Ni salt and a Ce salt and then an alkali is added to the aqueous solution. The catalyst thus obtained has an NiO-CeO2-Al2O3 structure which can exhibit high activity as a catalyst for the low-temperature water vapor reforming of hydrocarbons without showing any lowering of its activity every batch operation.
