Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the supply of an ink into a subtank for a ink jet printer by pressurizing the ink in a main tank and to keep constant the amount of the ink reserved in the subtank, by a method wherein a discharge hole for air is provided for the subtank and is connected to a bag-formed container. CONSTITUTION:The amount of the ink in the subtank 2 is decreased as the ink is consumed in printing, and when air reaches a filter 15 at a feed port of a nozzle, a failure of jetting the ink for printing takes place. In such instance, when a pushed part 16 of the main tank 1 is depressed, the ink in the main tank 1 is pressurized and it is supplied into the subtank 2 through an ink feed port 12. Simultaneously, an actuator 21 for a valve block 20 is also pushed to open a valve 19, so that the subtank 2 is communicated to an air bag 18 through the discharge hole 17 and discharge pipes 22, 23. Accompanied by the supply of the ink, the air in the subtank 2 ane excess ink are transferred into the bag 18. When the depressing on the push part 16 is stopped, the valve 19 also is returned to its initial state.
