Abstract
PURPOSE:To transmit and receive smoothly in the event of a fault by use of one transmission line, by using a light source having each different wavelength, for three optical transmission and receiving equipments which are adjoining each other, so that each of them is able to receive the wavelength of other equipment, and is unable to receive the wavelength of its own equipment. CONSTITUTION:An optical transmission loop is constituted by connecting the center 100 and stations 101-105 with one optical transmission line 200. Each of optical transmission equipments 300-305 has a light source whose three adjoining light emission wavelength is different from each other, and each receiving equipment has optical branching filters 700-705 by which other two wavelength being different from light emission wavelength of its own transmission equipment is made to branch selectively, respectively, and photodetecting elements 400-405 and 500-505. According to this constitution the station 101 which has received a signal from the center 100 extracts a signal component to its own station, adds a signal to be transmitted, and transmits it to the station 102 by wavelength of its own equipment, therefore, communication by loop-back is executed in the event of a fault.
