Abstract
PURPOSE: To convert an optical active amino acid salt into a racemic type amino acid salt easily in high yield, by racemizing the optical active amino acid salt in the presence of a lower fatty acid and an aliphatic or aromatic aldehyde.
CONSTITUTION: An optical active amino acid salt is racemized in a solvent or in the absence of a solvent in the presence of a lower fatty acid and an aliphatic or aromatic aldehyde at room temperature W under heating with stirring. The optical active amino acid salt may be a pure mono component, a mixture with it and a salt of racemic modification, namely, a so-called low-quality optical active salt, or a mixture of it and one or more amino acid salts. A wide range of amino acid salts can be racemized directly in the form of salt, and a specific device is not required advantageously.
