Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the floating stability of a slider by a piezoelectric body which varies its thickness with an applied voltage. CONSTITUTION:A slider 1 is equipped with a slider rail which consists of a slanting surface 3 with an angle theta of incidence on the reverse side, a plane part 4, a traversing plane part 5, and a pocket part 6 surrounded with the traversing plate part 5 and plane part 4. The slanting surface part 3 and plane part 4 generate positive pressure with a magnetic disk, and the pocket part 6 generates negative pressure. When a piezoelectric body 7 provided to the pocket part 6 is allpied with a voltage, the piezoelectric body 7 varies in thickness H and the groove 9 of the negative pressure generation part varies in depth (h). Therefore, the negative pressure varies and its value is regulated, so the slider 1 is allowed to float by a prescribed extent continuously, thus relieving the work precision of the negative pressure generation part of the slider.
