Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve recording characteristics by adequately specifying the saturated magnetic flux density of the 1st core near a recording-medium sliding surface, the saturated magnetic flux density of the 2nd core forming a gap with the 1st core, and the saturated magnetic flux density of a magnetic film formed between the 1st core and a gap material. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head consists of a couple of cores 10 and 15. The saturated magnetic flux density BS1 of the core 15 is less than the saturated magnetic flux density BS2 of the core 10. A ferromagnetic thin film 9 is formed between the core 15 and a gap material 11. The saturated magnetic flux density BS3 of this film 9 is less than that of the core 15. A vertical recording medium 1 is run in such a direction that the core 15 is on a recording medium exit side.
