Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a coating compsn. capable of forming a metallic coated surface without using any metallic flake pigment, by blending a translucent or transparent synthetic resin, a color pigment and an inorg. material in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A translucent or transparent synthetic resin (A) such as an acrylic resin or a vinyl chloride resin, a color pigment (B) and an inorg. material (C) such as zeolite, palygorskite or acid day, are blended together to obtain a coating compsn. Components B and C are used in an amount of 1W20pts.wt. (in terms of the combined amount) per 100pts.wt. (on a solid basis) component A. Components B and C are used in a weight ratio of 100/(10W200). This compsn. is diluted with a liquid so as to obtain flow characteristic exhibiting a viscosity of 8W16sec in No.4 Ford cup. Then the diluted compsn. is used as a paint for spray coating.
