Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it needless to provide a special cross-sectional shape designed to prevent dead spaces from being made on both sides of a flexible container, by providing the container with such structure as to expand the side diaphragm chambers of the container only in case of necessity. CONSTITUTION:To discharge a contained powdery or granular material, a stopper is removed from a discharge port 4 and it is connected through a hose or the like to a vessel into which the material is to be transferred. A discharge valve is then opened. As a result, the contained material portion in the range of the angle of repose flows out spontaneously, starting at the discharge port 4. After that, an air source is connected to an air supply pipe 7 or the like for an air slide 5 and a shutoff valve is opened. After a while, the air slide 5 begins to act so that the material over the air slide flows to the discharge port 4 and goes out of it. The shutoff valve of an air supply pipe 9 for side diaphragm chambers 8 is then opened to expand them to push and gather the material present at both the sides of the air slide 5. Dead spaces are thus prevented from being made.
