Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of stress in partition plates and spacer plates of a heat exchanger and to reduce the size and weight thereof, by making the partition plates and spacer plates with an inorganic fibrous material to impart resiliency thereto. CONSTITUTION:In the drawing, numerals 1 represent a plurality of flat partition plates which are made of a heat-conductive and air-impermeable material, while numerals 2 represent a plurality of spacer plates with a cross section having corrugation shaped like saw teeth. The spacer plates 2 are interposed between each two partition plates 1 with the direction of said corrugation being changed 90 degrees alternately. Here, the partition plates 1 and the spacer plates 2 are made of a material obtained by first processing an inorganic substance such as an oxide of silicon or aluminum having resistance to high temperatures into the form of fibers, binding the fibers with a heat-resisting binder, and then forming it into an article like a thin paper to impart resiliency to the same, or otherwise by forming into an article like a thin fabric having resiliency by binding said fibers by use of a mechanical means.
