PURPOSE: To provide a styrene/maleic anhydride copolymer compsn. for molding, which has improved thermal stability, by blending an ester group-contg. phenol compd., an ester group-contg. thio compd. or an alkoxylphenol.
CONSTITUTION: 0.001W5.0pts.wt. ester group-contg. compd. (i) such as a compd. contg. a group of formulaI(wherein R', R" are H or a 1W4C alkyl; A is a 1W 6C alkylene which may be substituted with a group of formula II, thio compd. (ii) such as a compd. of formula III (wherein R1, R2 are each a 1W13C alkylene; R3, R4 are each a 1W13C alkylene which may be substituted with a group of formula II) or alkoxyphenol (iii) such as a compd. of formula IV[wherein at least one group of RaWRe is OR6 (wherein R6 is a 1W6C alkyl) and the remainder is H or a 1W6C alkyl]is blended with 100pts.wt. copolymer composed of 95W65wt% styrene and 5W35wt% maleic anhydride.
