Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture light weight sound insulating material which can be formed in any desired shape, by impregnating an elastic open cell foamed object with a thermosetting synthetic resin and heat compressing by using a mold. CONSTITUTION:A polyurethane type foamed material is impregnated with a thermosetting which provides moldability and a shape retaining property (e.g.; an aqueous dispersion type phenolic resin). Heat compression molding is performed using a mold having an uneven shape at a temperature higher than a curing reaction temperature of the impregnating thermosetting synthetic resin. An obtained product is useful as a sound insulating material for a back of a bonnet of an automobile.
