Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve stress corrosion cracking resistance by using an alloy of the compsn. contg. specific amts. of C, Si, Mn, P, S, N, Ni, Cr and 1 or 2 kinds of Mo and W in steel and satisfying the conditions of the specific formulasI, II.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy for oil well pipes is formed of the compsn. of, by wt%, <0.1 C, <1 Si, <2 Mn, <0.03 P, <0.005 S, 0.05W0.3 N, 25W60 Ni, 22.5W35 Cr and 1 or 2 kinds of <7.5 Mo, <15 W, and the balances Fe with unavoidable impurities. It is so formulated as to satisfy the conditions of the formulasIand II. Further, it is more preferable to contg. 1 or ≥2 kinds of <2 Cu, Co or 1 or ≥2 kinds of <0.1 rare earth elements, <0.2 Y, <0.1 Mg, and <0.1 Ca.
