Addresses of a control section 12 are automatically advanced after write. When a shift change key 5 is depressed, the FF7 is inverted, the shift mode is changd over and a signal is transmitted to the control section 12 via a line l5, the content of the screen buffer of an address indicated with a cursor at present is read out once, a shift code section is replaced into a shift code after change, and the result is written in the same address and the address is advanced. Thus, re-depression of the character key 2 is unnecessary and the correction can be made through the two operations of the cursor and shift change.
