Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption at idle time of radio communication, by providing a bias current control circuit to a bias circuit at a power amplifier section and flowing a bias current, only when a power amplification section actuating signal inserted in an audio signal for transmission/reception is received. CONSTITUTION:A bias current controlling circuit 16 supplies a bias current to a power amplifier 5 only at call. A transmitter start signal outside the audio band is inserted to the audio signal for both transmission and reception, and this transmission start signal is received at a transmission start signal receiver 14 or 15. Only at the reception, the bias current is supplied from a bias circuit 6 to the amplifier 5 via the circuit 16. Thus, in a radio communication device having the power amplifier section of class A or AB, the power consumption at idle time can be reduced.
