Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently utilize steam energy to generate electricity under the shortage of steam power, by providing a motor generator between a main shaft and an electric generator and installing two slipping clutches provided with a centrifugal control valve and a reverse-action centrifugal control valve, so that the clutches are located in parallel with each other. CONSTITUTION:A marine electric generation equipment comprises an exhaust gas boiler 5 which receives the heat of the exhaust gas of a marine engine 1, a steam turbine 7 which is driven by steam produced by the boiler, and a main electric generator 8 connected to the steam turbine. A dynamotor 16 is connected to a bus 10 at the output side of the electric generator 8. Working oil pressure for the centrifugal control valve 14-1 of a slipping clutch 14 and the reverse- action centrifugal control valve 20-1 of another slipping clutch 20 is selectively regulated by control valves 32, 33 so that the dynamotor 16 is driven by a main shaft 2 to supplement the electric power of the electric generator 8 when the steam power is short and that the excess electric power of the dynamotor 16 is supplied for the main shaft 2 to drive a propeller 3 when the steam power has a margine. As a result, the generated AC power is set at constant frequency, whether the steam power is excess or short.
