Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a coil of a smoothing circuit small-sized, by connecting a diode and a coil in parallel with a load, to the output side of a switching (SW) element, and connecting a capacitor to its connecting point and the input side of the SW element. CONSTITUTION:An electric power source E is connected to a transistor TR which is an SW element, through an input side noise preventive coil L1, and the TR and a load RL are connected in series. A series circuit consisting of a diode D and a smoothing coil L2 is connected with the load RL in parallel, and a capacitor C2 is connected between the connecting point of the diode D and the coil L2, and the input side of the TR. When the TR is on, a current to the load RL is the sum of a current flowing through the TR from the coil L1, and a current for making energy stored in the C2 pass through the coil L2 and the TR. When the TR is off, a current to the load is the sum of a current flowing through L1, C2 and D, and a current for making energy stored in L2 discharge through D. In this way, the coil L2 can be made small-sized without raising SW frequency.
