Abstract
PURPOSE:To make effective use of regenerative electricity by providing a changeover contactor in a thyristor converter of a battery substation without any regenerative inverter for giving the function of the regenerative inverter to return the surplus regenerative power to an AC electric source. CONSTITUTION:A contactor 10 is thrown to the side of (a). When a battery 7 is perfectly charged by steady charging or regenerative charging, the contactor 10 is thrown to the side of (b) and the battery is released. When surplus electric power is generated by the regenerative power from a car 1, a charging thyristor converter 5 is operated as an inverter, and the surplus power is sent back to an AC power system via a transformer 8. In this construction, the thyrister converter 5 is designed with ample scope of capacity in consideration of the protection against an external surge such as the falling of a thunderbolt or the like, and even the addition of the function of power regeneration cannot increase the number of elements. Consequently, only the addition of the contactor 10 can ensure the function as a regenerative inverter.
