Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for any retreating mechanism for a transfer drum as against the traveling of an image carrying plate by notching a part of a drum-like transfer body of a transfer device which transfers sensible images to transfer paper. CONSTITUTION:A transfer drum 34 is formed with a conductive drum cylinder 334 of Al, etc. in the central part thereof and an elastic insulator 345 provided on the outer side surface by baking, for example, silicone rubber or the like to about 0.5-10mm. thicknesses thereto. It is provided with a notch 34c made by cutting off the cylinder thereof to about 5-10mm. radially at the plane at a right angle to the radius. This notch 34c contributes to generation of a spacing by as much as it is cut between track W-W' because the drum 34 turns freely by gravity and stops by directing the notch 34c upward when the drum 34 is released from driving forces. Therefore, in the stage of moving an image carrying plate back and forth, there is no need for providing a retreating mechanism between the image carrying plate and the transfer drum, and the generation of color deviation by the retreat operation is averaged.
