Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a photosensitive and thermosensitive recording member of excellent shelf stability and good fixing sensitivity for formation of good positive images by using a base material generating layer contg. a specific sensitizing agent and a reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:The ruthenium complex expressed by the formulaI[L is a ligand for ruthenium (residual groups such as alpha,alpha'-bipyridyl, o-phenanthorilone, etc.); X<-> is halogen; m is 1-3; n is 0-20]is used as a photosensitizing agent, and alcohols, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, etc. are used as a reducing agent. More specifically, (A) a basic coloring material layer consisting of cobalt (III) ammine, and/or amine complex, a chelating agent (e.g.; dimethyl glyoxime), the above-mentioned sensitizing agent, the compd. expressed by the formula II (R is C1-6 alkyl, benzyl) and the above-mentioned reducing agent and (B) a coloring layer consisting of a photooxidizing agent (e.g.; imidazole compd.), a coloring agent (e.g.: leuco type dye) and an acid (e.g.; paratoluene sulfonic acid) are laminated successively on a substrate, whereby a photosensitive and thermosensitive recording member is obtained.
