Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled composition, containing a specific compound, a hydrophilic solvent, a specific hydrophobic solvent, etc. and a surfactant in a specific proportion, collecting and solififying an oil film of organic materials formed on the water surface of a spillage oil on the water, and facilitating the separating and recovery of the oil from the water.
CONSTITUTION: A composition prepared by incorporating (A) 1W9wt% compound of the formula (R is H, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxyl or nitro; p is 0 or 1), e.g. benzylidenesorbitol, with (B) 15W70wt% hydrophilic solvent, preferably N,N-dimethylformamide, which is a good solvent for the component (A) and (C) 15W80wt% solvent selected from hydrophobic solvent, preferably 6W20C alcohol or 10W20C hydrocarbon, having a solubility in water ≤5, cyclohexanone and N- alkyl-2-pyrrolidone, and if necessary (D) 10wt% or less surfactant, preferably a nonionic, anionic or amphoteric type.
