Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having remarkably improved mechanical properties and containing para-oriented all aromatic polyamide fibers dispersed uniformly in the base resin in high adhesivity, by compounding an olefinic ionomer resin with surface-modified all aromatic polyamide fibers.
CONSTITUTION: The composition is prepared by compounding (A) 40W99.9pts.wt. of an olefinic inonomer polymer with (B) 0.1W60pts., preferably 1W40pts. of fibers composed of para-oriented all aromatic polyamide fibers consisting of the recurring units of formula -NH-Ar1-NH-CO-Ar2-CO and/or -NH-Ar3-CO- whose surface is N-substituted with the group of formulaIWVI (Ar1, Ar2 and Ar3 are para-oriented divalent aromatic group; k, l, m, n, i, and j are integers; Ar4 is phenyl, etc.; R1, R2, R3 and R4 are -NH, -CH3, etc.; M is H or alkali metal such as Li, Na, etc.).
