Abstract

PURPOSE: S-Adenosyl-L-methionine, a protonic acid and maltose are used as the components of the composition to give the titled composition which has high storage stability and high safety to living body and is used as a remedy for diseases caused by metabolism disorders of various kinds.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous medium solution containing 1pt. of S-adenosyl-L- methionine (SAM), 0.5W4pts. of protonic acid such as hydrobromic, hydrochloric or hydroiodic acid and less than 10pts. of maltose is heated to evaporate the aqueous solvent up to dryness to give a composition containing SAM. The reaction temperature is lower than 50°C, preferably lower than 35°C and the evaporation is effected suitably by the freeze drying method or vacuum drying one. The resultant composition is a crystal-like powder and shows high stability under dried conditions of less than 1% water content even at room temperature for a long period of time.
EFFECT: Maltose as a starting material is extremely safe, inexpensive and readily available, so the composition has high productivity in a practical scale.
