Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formulaI(A is -CH2CO- or -NH-; R is residue of alanine, phenylalanine, or alanylglutamic acid) and its acid addition salt.
EXAMPLE: N-Decaprenylacetyl-L-alanine.
USE: Antiviral agent. It has interferon-inducing activity, and exhibits excellent antiviral effect and antitumor effect by animal experiments.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIcan be prepared by the conventional peptide-bond forming reaction of decaprenylacetic acid of formula II or decaprenylamine of formula III. For example, the compound of formulaIis obtained by the carbodiimide process comprising the reaction of the compound of formula II with an N-protected amino acid or the amine of formula III with an amino acid ester in the presence of a dehydration agent (e.g. DCC). The reaction is preferably carried out in an organic solvent (e.g. acetonitrile) at 0°CW room temperature.
