Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the influence of external light by providing two detectors which detect a body photoelectrically, and comparing the output of a photodetector which detects reflected light from the body with the output of the other detector which detects only the external light. CONSTITUTION:Photoelectric detecting means 11 and 11' consist of light emitting elemnts 16 and 16' and photodetecting elements 13 and 13'. The photoelectric detecting means 11 is arranged near a body 5 to be detected to detect the presence of the body 5 by detecting variation in the quantity of reflected light from the body 5. The other detecting means 11' detects only the ambient light of the body 5. Both the means 11 and 11' are influenced equally by external light, so a comparator 12 compares an output VC, which corresponds to both external light and reflected light from the body with an output VD which corresponds to only the external light, thus eliminating the influence of the external light.
