Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove an unnecessary coating perfectly and safely by a method wherein a paint stripping composition containing a coating forming substance and an water absorbable polymer is preliminarily coated on the surface of a predetermined article and, after washing, mechanical action is applied to the formed coating.
CONSTITUTION: 0.01W80wt% water absorbable polymer and 20W99.99wt% coating forming substance are mixed to prepare a paint stripping composition. This paint releasing composition is preliminarily coated on the surface of a predetermined article and, after an unnecessary paint is coated on the formed paint stripping coating, water washing is carried out to adsorbe a large amount of water by the water absorbable polymer to expand the volume of said polymer several times-several hundred times. In this case, the paint is floated by utilizing expansion force of said polymer and, thereafter, mechanical action of a spatula, pinchers, a hammer or a drill is applied to release the unnecessary paint from the surface of the article. As the water absorbable polymer, there are starch, gelatine or the like and the coating forming substance is prepared from a binder resin, a solvent, a pigment or the like.
