Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture fine CdS powder having a well-regulated particle shape and causing hardly aggregation among the particles in a manner advantageous to work environment and the control of environmental pollution by mixing a Cd salt with powder of a sulfide, grinding the mixture, and calcining it. CONSTITUTION:A Cd salt such s cadmium chloride or cadmium sulfate is mixed with powder of a sulfide such as sodium sulfide, ground, and calcined to obtain fine CdS powder having a well-regulated particle shape and causing hardly aggregation among the particles. Since the use of gaseous H2S is not required in the industrial production, this method is more advantageous to work environment and the control of environmental pollution than a precipitation method. When the powder is dispersed in a binder to manufacture a resin dispersion type electrophotographic receptor, it does not cause insufficient dispersion, an inferior coated surface to the photoconductive layer and image roughening because of the fine and well-regulated particle shape.
