Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formulaI[R1 is 1W2C alkyl; R2 and R3 are lower alkyl or R1 and R2 together with O form a ring shwon by the formula II (R4 is lower alkylene which may be substituted, or lower alkylalkylene), with the proviso that R1 is 2C alkylene when R4 is 3W6C lower akylene]]
EXAMPLE: 4-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde glycerol acetal.
USE: An imparter for prolonged fragrance or modifying agent. Having fragrance like vanillin, milder and softer than vanillin and ethyl vanillin, useful for favorite foods, foods and drinks, healthy foods, drugs, cosmetics, detergents, etc.
PROCESS: For example, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde or 4-hydroxy-3-ethoxybenzaldehyde is reacted with an acetalizing agent in the presence of sulfuric acid, etc. to give a compound shown by the formulaIeasily.
